For the Bushcraft Chair, how do I get the right length of branches for the tripod?
Great Question! the chair itself makes is the measuring guide, if you are going to bury the legs of the A frame into the ground it is one full length of the chair + the length of the back rest. if you are not burying it you can still use the same measurement but can also use 2x the length of the back rest. the other sticks simply need to be 2" wider than the chair. We have both a video here and the founder of Salbok also published a blog article about it here.
How much weight can the Bushcraft Chair take?
The chair itself is rated to 140Kg or 22 stone. Our suspension kits are designed to match this rating so its for this reason we recommend using the dedicated suspension kit, found hear.
The whole system is only as strong as its weakest link so if you use your own cord or rope and/or natural materials just make sure you use the right stuff, especially with cord and carabiners as breaking strength is different to safe working load!
Can you wash the Bushcraft Chair?
Getting scuffs and marks is a sign of a well used hard working robust bit of kit but totally understand wanting to maintain kit. Our general advice would be to spot clean wherever possible using a damp cloth to wipe effected areas. If heavier soiling does require machine washing, wash them on a low temperature (no higher than 30 degrees an lower if possible) with non-biological soap. Do not tumble dry! as with all waterproof products they can be re proofed with aftermarket products.
